Reflection:
After becoming familiar with Photoshop last year in CMP1 & 2 for previous tasks, I felt more confident with exploring the software and expressing my creativity whilst designing and creating a suitable logo to represent ‘my brand’. To achieve this, I played around with different fonts, brushes, layers, masks, and shapes and produced something that I felt proud of sharing and associating myself with.
The focal aspect of my logo and my brand is the phrase “I AM” which I feel as if makes a big statement and grabs the attention of the consumer, which may be a challenging task within this profession. As I am representing myself in the logo, I thought that it would be best to put my name in a handwritten font to make it more personal to me, however, if I was working on different projects, I would change the caption to something like “I AM…Creating…directing…filming…” so I had a clear theme throughout my work, establishing my visual brand.
I used the exploding chalk background, different brush tools, and masks to give the effect that I am, literally, wanting to break through and make a statement with my work.
Evaluation:
In terms of the brief, I feel that I have successfully created a logo that represents myself and the brand that I want to establish. I have achieved this by carefully selecting copyright free images and brushes via Alberto Seveso’s website and creatively embedding my selected text to produce an original and quirky end product through the use of Photoshop. By carefully planning and designing my logo, I have made it versatile enough to change it up and add different words depending on what I am wanting/have achieved, which I believe would make me memorable as an individual in the creative industry and catch on with the consumer of my products.
However, if I was to complete this task again, then I would maybe choose something a little less busy and something that could be simplified into fewer words or an image. This may be more ideal as it would fit in more easier with social networking profile pictures and uploads layout, though overall I am pretty satisfied with my final product.
